Astrology in Psychology

Once upon a time, all medical professionals used Astrology, I just learned this yesterday. When I started using astrology I was very hesitant to bring it up. I believed it wasn't professional or scientific enough. What is frustrating about simply stating you use astrology is that people have an idea of it that is a bit shallow and unbecoming of the system. Most people's concept of it does not go past their sun sign which is less than 1/12th of the picture at the most basic level. I would say I am not an astrologer. But in 2025, I practically am. I am really gifted at seeing what needs to be addressed and what is expected. Yet I focus on it through a psychological lens. Meaning, I do not predict anything, but I am going to ask specific questions. Sometimes the answers are more telling than intake, because it reminds people of parts them that were lost or buried and sometimes not yet discovered (fire sign stelliums.) Natal charts are tools for compassion and acceptance. I am not here to change anyone but find a way for them to manage and harness all the parts of them. Charts are truly a cheat sheet. I started utilizing astrology out of curiosity, I noticed my Aquarius and Virgo clients had very similar plights. So I dug deeper. I usually focus on the Nodes, the Lilith Placements and the 12th and 4th house. Yet everything is important and I am always learning.

Also as a business owner there are weeks I expect more problems. Cancer Season, Scorpio and Cancer Full moons. I am known to take off when there is an eclipse. I also keep track for more sensitive clients. I advise sensitives to ground during full moons, know their 8th and 12th house seasons.

Now that we are getting introduced to Neptune and Saturn in Aries and Neptune in Gemini. We are all adjusting to a new energy. Unfortunately solar flares, are completely unpredictable. Yet, studying the energy allows us to witness and be a part of the shifts instead of getting swept up and carried away in it.

Other ways I utilize Astrology as a psychotherapist is being mindful of my client's transits. Major transits can feel like life is falling a part or you are meeting a new part of yourself. In a sense yes, but rarely is it the moral failing we believe when we look at life from a linear angle. Your transits are based upon your rising sign. I am an Aquarius rising, so Saturn and I are besties at this point. Saturn has been through my 12th and 1st house.

When I am asked where to start to understand Astrology, I suggest cafeastrology.com, Get your birth chart and season by season, review it. Or the app, The Pattern app has really great breakdowns. It has expanded so much in the past 5 years and is worth taking a second look. Start with learning your self, your personality, your perspective of your family and then move into learning aspects and then transits.
